This policy covers Swimrise, the swim analysis app by Swimming Everywhere, for iPhone and Android, made by Swimming Everywhere LLC (“we”). Our website and lesson booking have their own privacy policy.
What the app collects
- An account with no name on it. The first time a swim is saved to our servers, the app creates an anonymous account: a random ID, with no email address or name.
- Apple or Google sign-in, if you choose it. Signing in links your swims to that Apple or Google account. We receive the email address and name Apple or Google share with us. Apple lets you hide your email.
- Swimmer details. For each swimmer you add: first name, birth year, sex and home pool length.
- Swim videos. When you finish marking and counting a swim, the app uploads its video (filmed in the app or imported from your phone) to our private storage. Videos keep any sound your phone recorded.
- Your marks and race details. The start, wall and head-up times you mark, where you tap the swimmer, your stroke and kick taps and stroke corrections, plus the stroke, distance, pool length, race date, meet name, lane, official time, splits and reaction time you type in.
- Results. The stroke counts, tempo and other numbers our software works out, and any video we make from your swim.
- A notification token, only if you allow notifications, so we can tell you when a count or a video is ready.
The app has no ads and no analytics or tracking tools. It does not use your location or your contacts. It opens the camera only to film and your photo library only to import a video you pick or to save one you ask to save.
How we use it
- To count strokes, work out your numbers, make the videos you ask for, and show your swims and results back to you.
- To count your swims and videos against your plan's monthly allowance.
- To send the notifications you allowed.
- To check the software's work and to help you when you write to us. Our staff can view your swims, videos and results for this.
Benchmarks and improving the analysis
Benchmarks compare a swim with swimmers of the same age band and sex. They are built from the numbers of many swims together, such as the middle tempo of 13 to 14 year old girls in the 50 free, and a group appears only once it holds at least 30 swims. A benchmark never shows anyone your name, your video or a single swim.
We also use uploaded videos, marks and your stroke corrections to test and improve our stroke-counting software. They stay inside our own systems for this. We do not publish them or sell them.
When you delete your account, your videos and swims are deleted. Benchmark groups and software versions already built with them are not rebuilt.
Who handles it
- Supabase hosts our database, sign-in and video storage.
- Stroke counting and videos run on our own software, on computers we run or rent.
- Apple and Google handle sign-in when you use them, and deliver notifications.
- Expo passes our notifications to Apple and Google.
Beyond the companies above, we do not share your swims with anyone, and we do not sell your information. A card or video leaves the app only when you share it or save it.
Children
Accounts are for people 13 and over. A parent or guardian holds the account for a younger swimmer and adds them as a swimmer. If you film a child, you must be their parent or guardian, and no other children should be identifiable in the video.
How long we keep it
Until you delete your account. Removing one swim from your library hides it on every phone; the video, the marks and the numbers stay on our servers until you delete your account or ask us to delete them, and a swim we already analysed still counts toward that month's swims. Deleting the app does not delete your account, so delete the account first.
Deleting your account
In the app, go to Swims, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete my account and swims. It deletes every swim, video and analysis from our servers and from your phone, along with your swimmer details, your sign-in and your notification token. Videos you saved to Photos or shared stay where you put them.
You can also email everywhere@swimmingsimply.com to ask what we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it.
