Learn to swim as an adult
Plenty of adults never learned, or learned just enough to get by and still feel uneasy in deep water. Private lessons mean nobody is watching but your coach.
You set the pace. Some adults spend the first lesson getting comfortable putting their face in the water, and that is a fine first lesson.
Comfort first
Breathing out underwater, floating and standing up again, until the water stops feeling like a threat.
Deep water
Treading water and getting back to the wall, so you can relax in a pool or a lake.
Your first strokes
Freestyle and backstroke, broken into pieces small enough to get right.
Laps
When you are ready, swimming a full length without stopping, then two.
Prices
Price per private lesson. The 6-pack is the lowest rate.
| Lesson | Single | 3-pack | 6-pack |
|---|---|---|---|
| Adult learn to swim, 30 min | $70 | $65 | $60 |
| Adult learn to swim, 45 min | $99 | $95 | $90 |
Questions
I am afraid of the water. Can you still help?+
Yes. Your coach goes at your pace, starts wherever you feel safe, and never asks you to do something you have not agreed to.
How long until I can swim a lap?+
It depends on where you start. Your coach will tell you honestly after the first lesson. A 6-pack is the usual starting point for a true beginner.
Where are lessons?+
Moorhead Pool in Aurora, Swim Otters in Wheat Ridge, or your own pool if you have one. We match you with a coach near you.
What if we need to cancel?+
A lesson only comes off your package once it has been taught, so a cancelled lesson stays in your package. Message your coach to pick a new time.
